KSRTC introduces additional buses to facilitate devotees visiting Srisailam - 1 min read

Bagalakote: On an account of Yugadi festival there will be a fair on Saturday April 2 at Srisaila Mallikarjuna Temple located in Andhra Pradesh, and many devotees from various parts of North Karnataka including the District have been leaving for the fair.

Already over thousands of devotees have left for Srisailam by foot as it has been a tradition for many people here. Every year they set out to Srisailam by foot. Many devotees go by bus too.

Due to pandemic the fair had lost its charm and the number of devotees too were less last two years. However this year again the fair has got its usual grandeur and the devotees visiting the pilgrimage centre has hiked as well.

To make the journey of devotees easy the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has introduced as many as 300 additional busses from the District. These additional provision has started from Wednesday March 23.

As per the information from the Department, over 100 buses have left the District to Srisailam on Tuesday March 29.

Last year Bagalakote Division had earned around Rs. 1.50 Crore only during Srisailam fair. This year the number of devotees has increased and the Department is expecting revenue of around Rs. 2.25 Crore.

Speaking to NewsKarnataka KSRTC Division Manager A. A. Kori said that the buses to Srisailam were inspected regularly. The bus leaves the City as soon it is filled with the devotees. And Department has taken all the precautionary measures to make the journey of devotees easy and safe.
