Bagalakote: As an independent candidate from Teradal constituency and as a weaver’s representative, Shivashankar Shivacharya Mahaswami, accompanied by a large number of weaver supporters, filed his nomination papers at the Tahasildar’s Office on Wednesday April 19.

Speaking on the occasion, Jagadguru Shivashankara Shivacharya Mahaswamiji said that he has tendered his resignation from the Veerabhiknavruti Matha of Kuruhinashetty Samaja, old Hubballi.

Since I am contesting election, there should not be any panic among the devotees. There should not be any bad feeling as there is a feeling of devotion, as an ordinary devotee of the matha, as a member. I am sacrificing the seat. Now I am not occupying chair,” he said.

Two National party candidates are outsiders. Even though I am an outsider, I have been here for six-seven years and will prove that I am a local. “My vote is in Nagathana constituency of Vijayapura District.”
