Belagavi: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said that Prabhakar Kore played an important role in the development of Mumbai-Karnataka region. “The Karnataka Lingayat Education (KLE) Society and Dr. Kore’s vision allowed for education and other developments in the Mumbai-Karnataka region,” he said.

Speaking at Dr. Prabhakar Kore’s Amrit Mahotsava (75th Birthday Celebrations) on Saturday October 15 at the district stadium in Belagavi, KLE Chairman and former Rajya Sabha member Bommai said, “Dr. Prabhakar Kore would have become one of the tallest political leaders in the state if he had given time to politics, but he chose to dedicate himself to promote education in North Karnataka.”

He had served as the leader of the KLE Society at a crucial moment when the government was about to nationalise educational societies, and he had fought tirelessly for 40 years to make KLE one of the top education societies.

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said, “Dr. Kore is a living Institution as he has knowledge of every sector. Lord Basavanna fought to educate people and bring about social reforms in the 21st century almost 1,000 years ago. Dr. Kore works to educate and bring about social reforms. I salute Dr. Kore’s work.”

Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Pralhad Joshi, said, “Dr. Kore has developed the KLE Society into one of the biggest educational hubs with over 290 educational institutes under it.”

Dr. Kore encouraged the government to build a “Legislators’ Hostel” (Shasakara Bhavan) near the Suvarna Vidhana Soudha (SVS) in Belagavi and to keep the SVS operational at all times. “In the coming days, the management board of KLE will make policy decisions to provide free medical and engineering education to the children of farmers.”
