Belagavi: MLA Mahantesh Koujalagi said that Sangolli Rayanna Utsav will be celebrated with great pomp and show on January 12 and January 13.
Presiding over a preliminary meeting held at Krantiveera Sangolli Rayanna Memorial Hall in Sangolli Village of Bailahongal Taluk of the District on Monday January 2, he said that it was celebrated in a simple way for two years due to COVID-19. But this time the festival will be celebrated with gaiety as per the unanimous demand of the villagers, he said.
“A proposal has already been sent for providing grants of Rs. 1 Crore for the Utsav. However, no funds have been released by the Government yet. A request has been made to the Kannada and Culture Minister V. Sunil Kumar to release Rs. 1 Crore. The Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has already given instructions for the release of Rs. 50 Lakh.
MLA Koujalagi expressed confidence that the grant will be released within a week.
