Belagavi: The Karnataka Working Journalists Association (KWJA) organized a special event at Kannada Bhavan in Nehru Nagar to commemorate Journalists Day on Sunday. Senior journalists were felicitated, and special awards were presented to children of journalists who excelled in SSLC and II PU exams.

Honoring Journalism

MLA Ashif (Raju) Sait inaugurated the event, emphasizing the importance of honest and socially-oriented journalism in today’s media landscape. Senior journalist Sarjoo Katkar highlighted the evolution of journalism over the past decade, stressing the role of truthfulness and social welfare in maintaining dignity and respect for the profession.

Recognition and Awards

Bhimashi Jarkiholi, honorary president of KWJA, presided over the ceremony, where senior journalists like Rajashekhar Patil, Keshav Adi, HV Nagaraj, CA Itnalamath, Subhash Kulkarni, Manisha Subedar, and Luis Rodraguez were honored for their contributions. Additionally, 14 children of working journalists who achieved outstanding academic results were also recognized.
