In a significant legal verdict, 13 individuals, including a woman who falsely accused a Hescom officer of rape in Belagavi, have been sentenced to three years and six months in prison each. Judge Smt. L. Vijayalakshmidevi of the Principal District and Sessions Court of Belagavi also imposed a fine of Rs 86,000 on each of the accused.
B.V. Sindhu, the woman who made the false allegations against Hescom Assistant Superintendent Engineer Tukaram Majjige, and her accomplices were convicted after a thorough investigation revealed the allegations to be untrue. The case, which began with a complaint in 2014, saw extensive police investigation and witness testimonies before culminating in this ruling.
