Belagavi: A Former Corporator from the City has installed at his residence the idol of his wife, who passed away, recently.
The idol is protected with bullet proof glass as it is adorned by the gold jewellery that belonged to her. Also he has been offering puja to the idol daily.
Shiva Chougale is the Former Corporator, and the resident of Gangwadi while his late wife Maina Bai was also a Former Corporator of the Belagavi City Corporation. Maina Bai was the daughter of Shiva’s aunt, and they were married for 30 years.
After her demise due to pneumonia, Shiva began feeling lonely, and as he was unable to forget her he decided to install her statue at home. The idol is made of marble stone. Around 400 of Maina’s sarees too are placed near the idol.
Shiva has already launched a foundation in his wife’s name and has begun undertaking social service like free medical camp, and financial support for the education of poor children among others. He has also sought permission to launch a hospital in his wife’s name.
“I am at peace due to installation of this statue as I get the feeling that my wife is here only,” he expresses.
