Belagavi: Former union minister Babagouda Patil passes away at a hospital here on Friday May 21.
The 76-year old farmer leader was being treated at KLES Dr Prabhakar Kore Hospital. He was one of the founder members of the Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha.
He became an independent MLA from Kittur in 1989 and won the Lok Sabha election from Belgaum constituency on the BJP ticket in 1998. He was also a Minister of State for Rural Development (independent charge) in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government.
He was born in 1945 at Chikka Bagewadi, Belagavi and had graduated in Science from R. L. Science Institute in Belagavi. He is survived by his wife, two sons and two daughters.
