Gadag: The contribution of many great personalities in the building of State is immense. Kannada is fading away due to the obsession of people in State towards foreign languages and it has to be compulsorily used. Kannada in fact is a very rich language. It is necessary for Kannadigas to develop Kannada and unite for the cause of Kannada language, said MLA Ramanna Lamani.
He was speaking at the 67th Karnataka Rajyotsava programme organised by the Taluk Administration at S. M. Dabali Taluk Stadium in the City. He said that Kannadigas who love Kannada language by heart, develop it with pride and speak Kannada with self-respect. It is sad that in the present situation, all our children are being pushed into learning English language and Kannada is thus disappearing,” he said.
“Many have worked hard to unite Karnataka which was divided into different provinces. In order to make their efforts worthwhile, Kannada should be compulsorily used in Karnataka and necessary steps will be taken to construct a Kannada Sahitya Parishat Bhavan in Shirahatti Taluk at the earliest, he said.
