Haveri: A couple met Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai with the dead body of their newborn baby alleging medical negligence in a government facility on the evening of Sunday August 21. This incident sent shockwaves across the State Health Department as the incident happened in the home district of CM itself.
What added to the embarrassment to the State Government is that couple alleged that due to bad roads, they are not able to rush to the hospital immediately.
CM Bommai was in his home district Haveri on Sunday to attend numerous events. He was at the guest house to take a rest.
At that time Basavaraj and Poornima couple, residents of Hirebasur village in Hanagal Taluk arrived at the guest house with the dead body of their newborn baby. The baby died three days after the delivery.
The couple alleged that baby was born three days ago at the district hospital. Within six hours after the delivery, the baby and mother were discharged. After reaching home, the baby developed health complications resulting in death.
“As the road is bad, we are not able to rush back to the hospital on time,” the couple informed the CM.
Bommai was shocked by the complaint and assured that he will look into the matter immediately.
