Haveri: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate India Energy Week 2023 in the State in February of next year, said Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai’s on Sunday December 18.
The event, which will address energy production and policies, will draw around 10,000 people from India and abroad, he added.
According to a government release, he was addressing during the inauguration of a 3,000 KLPD ethanol and sugar facility owned by a private company in Konanakeri village in Shiggaon Taluk of Haveri District.
Bommai said that Bengaluru, which has the biggest Research and Development centres, had been selected by the Indian government to host this event.
There is a high demand for ethanol factories, thus the government is providing a subsidy with 6 per cent interest and 95 per cent financial support to establish them, said Bommai.
In the Haveri district, two ethanol factories are functioning in Sankur and Hirekerur, and more will be built. The government will approve the construction of the factories since it will benefit farmers, provide employment for locals, and generate revenue for the government. “The next 50 years will see a huge increase in demand for biofuel. Economy, environment, and energy are linked, and economic development can be attained by keeping these three aspects in balance,” he added.
