Belagavi: The names plates of Mayor Sarita Viraj Patil and Deputy Mayor Sanjay M Shinde at their respective chambers were defaced by a group of Karnataka Rakshana Vedike (KRV) workers despite police security on Saturday morning, November 5.

The security personnel nabbed some of the KRV workers while they were fleeing after defacing the name plates. A group of KRV workers were protesting and demanding that the government supersede the BCC council as a punitive measure against the Mayor, Deputy Mayor and Marathi speaking councilors.

It may be recalled, the Mayor, Deputy Mayor and Marathi speaking councillors participating in the Maharashtra Ekikaran Samiti organised ‘Black Day’ observance on the occasion of Karnataka Rajyotsava celebrations in the city on Tuesday, November 1.
