Belagavi: A leopard was spotted in a field in Naganoor village, Mudalagi taluk, on Tuesday afternoon, prompting forest officials and local authorities to issue warnings to residents. Forest officer Sanju Savasuddi rushed to the scene after a viral video on social media alerted him to the presence of the big cat.

Tehsildar Mahadeva Sannamuri visited the spot and advised people to exercise caution, especially at night, and to keep a close eye on children and livestock. As a precautionary measure, the Aranyasiddeshwar Government Higher Primary School, located adjacent to the field, has been closed for the day on July 24.

Block Education Officer Ajith Mannikeri declared the holiday to ensure the safety of students. The sighting has raised concerns among local residents, and authorities are taking steps to monitor the situation and prevent any potential encounters with the leopard.
