Major Fire In Belagavi Industrial Area Leaves Several Workers Trapped

A significant fire erupted at Sneham International factory in Belagavi’s Navage Industrial Area on Tuesday night, trapping several workers inside. The blaze, which began around 9 PM due to a suspected short-circuit, quickly spread through the large factory that produces insulation tape. Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Roshan reported that between 40 to 70 workers were on the night shift when the fire started.

Despite the rapid response from firefighters, who managed to control around 70% of the blaze by 11:30 PM, the flames continued to rage, causing substantial damage. At least three individuals with burn injuries were transported to Belagavi District Hospital. The exact number of people still inside the factory remains unclear.

Firefighters, with support from various government officials, are working to extinguish the remaining fire, which is expected to take several more hours. In anticipation of further casualties, the Deputy Commissioner has requested the Health Department to prepare 200 beds at the district hospital.

Belagavi Police Commissioner Iada Martin, DCP Rohan Jagadish, and other senior officials are on-site coordinating the rescue operations. The situation is being closely monitored as efforts continue to manage the fire and assist those affected.
