In a tragic turn of events, a 29-year-old man in Karnataka’s Belagavi district allegedly murdered his 18-year-old girlfriend before taking his own life on Tuesday, police reported.
Prashanth Yellapa Kundekar, a painter, was in a relationship with Aishwarya, who had completed her Class 10 education. He had approached her mother, expressing his desire to marry her. However, her mother advised him to first secure a stable income and settle down.
Despite this, Prashanth allegedly kept pressuring Aishwarya for marriage. She refused, stating she was not ready. On Tuesday evening, while Aishwarya was at her aunt’s residence in Shahapur, Prashanth reportedly arrived, slit her throat with a knife, and then took his own life.
Police suspect that the couple may have initially planned to die together but later changed course, leading Prashanth to commit the murder before ending his life. Investigations are ongoing.
