Belagavi: An alleged love-jihad case here in Belagavi has been proved fake after the two missing women confirmed to the police that they fled their home following torture from their family members.

It may be recalled that on December 6, Radhika and Priyanka from Balekundri village left their home. Meanwhile, local Hindu outfits had alleged that it was a case of “love-jihad” and held protests in front of Marihala Police Station.

But Radhika and Priyanka left their homes and started working in a factory in Mumbai. Local police who took the case seriously investigated further and traced the duo in Mumbai.

The duo, in a statement to the police, said that Radhika’s husband and her in-laws were torturing them and depriving them of freedom. They also confirmed that they had fled to Mumbai out of their own will thus putting an end to “love-jihad” rumours.
