Belagavi: Thirteen private transport buses carrying passengers on their way to Karnataka from various places in Maharashtra were forced to return from Kognoli checkpoint between Kolhapur and Belagavi districts since the majority of passengers did not have an RT – PCR negative report.

This has come after Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, issued an order mandating all visitors from Maharashtra to carry a double vaccination certificate as well as an RT – PCR negative report, which went into effect on Monday January 3.

CM Bommai also directed officials to tighten screening at checkpoints and ensure that visitors entering Karnataka had both documents in order to prevent the Omicron from spreading further.
