Belagavi: Prohibitory orders imposed under section 144 CrPC for the Belagavi police commissionerate area have been extended to Wednesday December 22.

In light of recent incidents in Belagavi City involving defacing the statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in Bengaluru and, later, the statue of Veer Sangolli Rayanna, the decision has been made.

So far, seven people have been arrested by Sadashivanagar Police for allegedly desecrating the Shivaji statue at Bengaluru’s Bashyam Circle and 27 have been arrested for vandalising the statue of a freedom fighter, Sangolli Rayanna.
