Belagavi: After Bengaluru, now the Belagavi District Administration has decided to shut the schools due to a rise in the Covid – 19 cases. Deputy Commissioner (DC) M. G. Hiremath has announced a holiday for schools till January 18.

According to the authorities, a decision in this regard has been announced after a cluster outbreak in Belagavi Sainik School where 80 students and 10 staff tested positive.

It can be recalled that the State Government had already announced a holiday in Bengaluru for students between 1-9 class citing the third wave of Covid – 19.

According to the officials from the Department of Public Instruction, DCs of respective districts have been given the power to decide on school closure instead of the centralised decision taken in Bengaluru.
