Vijayapura:  Accusing the BJP government of shielding Former Minister and MLA, Ramesh Jarkiholi who has been allegedly found in an objectionable position with a woman, Former MLA and District Congress Committee (DCC) president, Raju Algur has demanded the government to arrest him immediately as the case has already been filed against Jarkiholi.

Addressing the press on Monday March 29, he said that he wondered why the government is not taking stern action of arresting Jarkiholi when a case has been filed nearly a month ago against him.

Alleging Ramesh Jarkiholi of giving flip-flop and contradictory statements, he said that when the purported video went viral, he first denied that it was not him but some lookalike was in the video.

“Then later, his brother Balchandra Jarkiholi claims that it was a honey trap to malign the image of his brother. It clearly means that Ramesh Jarkiholi is the man seen in the video”, he said.

Algur also casts aspersions on the six Ministers getting injunction order from the Court against the release of any video pertaining to them in the CD gate case.

“When the other six ministers have obtained stay, it means that there is some fishy about the whole episode. If the Minister has nothing to do with the case, then why did they take injunction order from the Court”, he asked.

Expressing anguish over the supporters of Ramesh Jarkiholi attacking the car of KPCC president, D. K. Shivakumar and throwing slippers on it, Algur alleged the BJP leaders of deliberately dragging the name of Shivakumar in the case.

He alleged some people of pressurizing the parents of the woman seen in the video to accuse Shivakumar while the woman herself has not made any allegations against Shivakumar.

Asked why Shivakumar’s name was brought in the case, Algur said that it is possibly to tarnish his image.

Demanding the arrest of Ramesh Jarkiholi, he said that the government should also provide security to the woman and allow her to submit her statement before the magistrate.

“Let her say whatever she wants without fear, then truth will prevail, meantime arrest Ramesh Jarkiholi”, he said.

Meanwhile with regard to Sindgi by-election where some of the Congress leaders have expressed dismay over the selection of the candidate, Algur  admitted that some people may be unhappy but High Command will convince them.

Leaders, Abdul Hamid Mushrif, Vasat Honmode, Irfan Shaikh, Mohammed Rafiq Tapal, Chandsab Gadaglav and others were present.
