Vijayapura: Demanding the City Corporation not to discriminate in granting funds to the various wards in the budget for 2022-23, various Congress workers led by Congress Leader Abdul Hamid Mushrif took out march and submitted a memorandum to the Commissioner Vijaykumar Makkalagi on Wednesday December 29.

Later speaking to mediapersons after submitting a memorandum, Mushrif said that due to partiality in distribution of  funds while some wards are getting better civic amenities other wards are being deprived of the facilities. He said that some of the influential people are getting more funds for the development of their areas and other wards are facing fund crunch due to which localities such as Jama Masjid area and Managuli Agasi have not seen development.

“The roads of these areas are in bad condition. We are seeing roads being developed in only certain wards of the City. This discrimination is not acceptable. The City Corporation should see that all the wards get equal treatment and similar civic facilities are provided in these areas,” Mushrif said. He said that many wards which have Muslim majority, have been neglected by the Corporation. The Commission should grant funds for the development of these colonies also, he urged and alleged that in the last budget, the Corporation has used the funds reserved for the Muslim areas for the development of non-Muslim areas.

Referring to the 24/7 drinking water project, he said that the project has been limping since years due to which, people of all the wards are not getting the facility of the project. He demanded faster implementation of the project.

Mushrif also urged the Corporation to ensure that the roads which are dug up for laying pipelines should be repaired. In many cases, the roads are not repaired after laying pipelines, he said.
