Vijayapura: Admitting that he has received many demands from the people of Bijapur to set up industries with the help of Japanese government, Maruo Katsumasa, Deputy Consul General of Japanese Consulate has said that he will share the views of people with the higher officials Japanese government.
Interacting with media persons during his two day visit to BLDE institutions here, he said that many people, including President of BLDE, M. B. Patil has wished the Japanese government to explore the possibility of Japan setting up some industries in Bijapur.
“ I do not have authority to give any assurance on it, however since many people have insisted on the matter, I will surely try to appraise it to my government”, he said.
To a question, Katsumasa said that the objective of the Consulate is to educate people of the North Karnataka region about Japanese culture and heritage.
He said that though he wanted to visit Bijapur in his personal capacity to see the monuments, but before that itself, he received an invitation from BLDE to visit the district.
“ I really liked Bijapur city. It is a very beautiful place”, he declared.
He also asserted that his government wishes to hold more cultural exchange programmes with the students of North Karnataka region.
Asked whether the Japanese government has any plan to open another consulate in the NK region, he said that as of now, no such plan.
Kastsumasa who is deputed at the Bengaluru consulate has learned a couple of words of Kannada and Hindi. He said he is trying to learn both languages through Youtube.
