Vijayapura: The SSLC result which was announced on Thursday May 20 brought cheers to the District as seven students of the District secured full marks, while 104 schools recording a 100 percent result.

The students who secured 625 of 625 are Aishwarya Kanase of Karjol, Amit Madar of Jumanal, Swati Malade of Halagani, Yellalinga Sulibhavi of Nagarabetta, Shivaleela Durge of Sindagi, Rakshita Chinivar of Vijayapura and Shreya Desai of Talikot. What is more interesting is that of the seven students who got 625 marks, six are from rural areas while only one is from Vijayapura City.

The result all over the State clearly shows that the rural students have done exceptionally well compared to their urban counterparts.

“Our extra efforts to prepare the students well for the exams have finally paid off. We have made earnest efforts in ensuring that no student fails in the exam”, said N. V. Hosur, Deputy Director of Public Instruction Department. He said that realising many students could not study well for the examination because of the Covid pandemic and  lockdown, the teachers were directed to spend extra hours with the students to  prepare them for exams. “We had identified the students based on their ability to study. While some students were doing well, some of the students were weak in studying. We prepared a passing package for such students where they were given extra coaching so that they don’t fail in the exam,” he said.

Further, Hosur said that preparatory exams were held on a regular basis to check their ability to face the exam and model question papers were prepared to help them solve the questions. The appointment of guest teachers also helped the department to prepare the students for exams, he said.

Hosur also expressed happiness over 104 schools of the District securing a hundred percent result. Till last year, a maximum of 21 schools of the District were getting a hundred percent result. “This is the first time that 104 schools have made this achievement,” he said.

Meanwhile, rejoicing over her result, Aishwaraya Kanase said that the extra efforts put by their teachers in preparing for the exam helped her secure a hundred percent marks. “Since I am studying in Kittur Rani Residential School, the teachers were available most of the time to get the problems solved and clear the doubts. Even after the end of school hours, special coaching classes used to be held for nearly four hours. This also helped in preparing for exams,” she said.

Amit Madar, who also scored full marks, thanked the teachers for preparing the students well for the exam.

The DDPI meanwhile informed that a total of 36251 students appeared for the exam, of them 19062 were boys and 17189 girls.  A total of 31733 students passed the exam, of them 16185 were boys and 15548 girls. The District secured 87.54% result.
