Vijayapura: At the time when the Government has formed a team to probe the alleged illegalities reported in the Police Sub-Inspector recruitment, the Department of Public Instruction has stumbled upon possible irregularities in promotion and the transfers of the teachers in the District.

Sources in the Department alleged that several junior teachers have been promoted to the post of headmasters by violating the prescribed norms. The teachers working in border areas and far from the District Headquarters were suspended intentionally for benefits. The suspended teachers have been deployed to the schools that are near to the District Headquarters.”

“The alleged irregularities are being blamed on recently retired Deputy Director of Public Instructions N. V. Hosur and office-bearers of various teacher’s associations,” claimed reliable sources.

After the allegations were made against Retired Officer Hosur, Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Rahul Shinde has written a letter to the Additional Commissioner of the Department of Public Instruction of Dharwad asking to revoke all the promotion and transfer orders immediately and initiate action against the officers and employees involved in these wrongdoings.

In a letter, Shinde has pointed out that, “A few weeks before retirement from the DDPI, Hosur has promoted many teachers who were not eligible for the elevation. The promotions have been given without following guidelines like counselling. The teachers that deserved the promotion were not taken into consideration during the process.”

“As per the merit list, 326 primary school teachers and 126 senior headmasters have been given promotion through counselling by violating the norms. In the counselling the eligible teachers for promotion were meted out injustice by the former DDPI.”

“Apart from this, a week before and after the retirement, N. V. Hosur has intentionally and without valid reason suspended many teachers. Thereafter, these teachers were deployed in the schools that were either in Vijayapura City or nearest to the District Headquarters. He has indulged in irregularities while transferring and promoting teachers,” CEO Shinde has detailed in a letter addressed to Additional Commissioner of DPI, Dharwad.

The sources claimed that many teachers paid huge money for the promotion and to get transferred to desired places.
