Vijayapura: Chief Whip of the Opposition in the State Legislative Council, Prakash Rathod, has lashed out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP leaders for “rubbing ghee” on the nose of the people of Banjara community by converting Lambani Taanda into a Revenue Village.
Addressing a press conference in the City on Sunday January 22, he said the Banjara community was recognised as a criminal tribe and exploited during the British period. On behalf of the party, he claimed that it was the Congress which included the Banjara Community in the list of Scheduled Castes in independent India and allowed them to lead a life of social dignity.
“The Project was conceived by the Congress Party Government and it was the dream child of Mallikarjun Kharge, who was the Revenue Minister then. But the BJP Government is trying to project that the work is done by it in line-up to elections,” he said.
