Vijayapura: Asserting that the Government is not interfering in the functioning of the Lokayukta in the case related to the raid at the house of the BJP MLA, Madal Virupakshappa, Chief Minister, Basavaraj Bommai said that the Government is not trying to hide anything.
He was addressing mediapersons at Chikkagalagali Village in Babaleshwar Taluk after participating in the programme to distribute compensation to the farmers who are losing land in the irrigation project of phase-3 of Upper Krishna Project on Thursday March 9. “The Lokayukta is free in doing its work, and it would also be submitting the details of the raid to the Court. “ It is our duty to accept the verdict of the court”, he said and added that the Lokayukta has continued its investigation in the case.
Taking on the Congress for raising the issue of corruption of the BJP, Bommai retorted that by raising the corruption issue of the BJP, the corruption ‘sins’ committed by the Congress will not wash away.
“The Congress cannot get itself rid of sins of corruption by raising corruption issues of the BJP. Some 59 corruption cases related to the Congress were before the ACB, which will get transferred to the Lokayukta, and then the Congress will get exposed before the people,” he said.
Replying to the question of MLA Virupakshappa taking out rally after getting anticipatory bail in corruption case, CM said that the party has taken exception to it and issues notice also to the MLA.
Replying to the reported statement of Former Chief Minister, B. S. Yediyurappa said that the party may not give ticket to a few sitting BJP MLAs Bommai said that since the Former is the BJP’s parliamenytary Committee Member, he might have said in that capacity.
However, in the sense of giving support to the statement of Yediyurappa, Bommai said that no election has taken place in the past where all the sitting MLAs have got tickets.
“There are no examples where every sitting MLA has got a ticket again in the election,” he said.
On the allegation of KPCC Chief D. K. Shivakumar that Bommai is also involved in corruption, the CM replied back by stating that corruption and D. K. Shivakumar are like two faces of the same coin.
Earlier, participating in the event, he symbolically distributed cheques to some of the farmers for giving land to the irrigation project.
Ministers, Govid Karjol, Murgesh Nirani, MLA M. B. Patil and various BJP leaders were present.
