Vijayapura: A unidentified man, who was suspected as child-lifter, was thrashed by the public here.
The incident happened in the village of Ittangila.
According to sources, an unidentified man had allegedly been wandering around the area for some time when the villagers grew suspicious of him and caught him, thinking he was a child lifter. Then they tied him to a post and beat him.
Police officers rushed to the village after receiving a tip-off and tried to save him.
