Vijayapura: The inordinate delay in completion of the railway overbridge at Ibrahimpura Railway Station has been inviting the wrath of the people, and now MP Ramesh Jigajinagi has also expressed anguish over the continued delay in completing the project.

Jigajinagi, who visited the spot for the second time in two months, took the contractor to task for postponing the dates of completion often.

It may be noted that during the last visit, the MP had claimed that the contractor had assured him to complete the work within a couple of months. But since the deadline was not met and a major portion of work was yet to be completed, the MP visited the site to inquire the reason for the delay. Though the contractor tried to give several excuses for the delay, the MP however directed him to complete the work by August end and not to delay it any further.

“People are already very angry and therefore do not test their patience again. Due to the delay, the people are facing enormous difficulty as they are forced to use the deviation and face traffic jams daily,” he said.

Jigajinagi said that if the contractor fails to keep his word, then he will be forced to pay a fine for the delay. Admitting that people have been bringing the notice of the delay to him, the MP asked contractor tender an apology to the public for the inconvenience being caused to them due to the delay.
