Vijayapura: Two students of Karnataka State Akkamahadevi Women’s University not only secured gold medals in the Convocation but also achieved their dream of clearing that Postgraduation by beating economic poverty.
Mubshirin Inamdar and Sailashree Betaval who are the daughters of tea stall owner and farmer respectively got three gold medals each in their post-graduation course.
While Mubshirin got medals in Food Processing and Nutrition, Saiolashree got medals in Sociology from the University.
“My achievement would not have been possible without the support of my parents. As they supported and encouraged me, I could complete the postgraduation and win medals,” said Mubshirin.
She said that her father runs a small tea stall near Bagalakote Road in the city and despite his limited earnings, he always encouraged her to study by bearing the educational expenses.
She however said that her father was not willing to allow her to pursue higher education if Women University did not exist in Vijayapura.
“It is because a Women’s University student like me could realise the dream of pursuing higher education,” she said.
To a question, she said she wishes to become a nutritionist in the coming days.
Sharing her views, Sailashree also thanked her parents, mainly her uncle who is helping her to study and complete the course.
The daughter of a farmer, she said that she has been living with her uncle who is taking care of her education. She said that only with the strong support of her family, she continued her studies and secure medals.
