Vijayapura: Chiding RSS and Sangha Parivar for behaving like a biggest nationalists, Former Minister and Veteran Congress Leader Ramesh Kumar said that the RSS and the erstwhile Jan Sangha which did not participate in the freedom movement are today pretending to be more nationalist than the parties who helped the country get freedom from British rule.

He was speaking at the event organised by Chinta Samskrutika Balaga to recall the contribution of Former Minister B. M. Patil, Shivayogi Swamy, Bangaramma Sajjan and P. G. Halakatti at BLDE’s Medical College function hall on Wednesday July 27.

He said that the history has all details about those who sacrificed their lives for freeing India from the clutches of British rule and also about those who remained silent during the freedom struggle.

“When people like Bhagat Singh were hanging on the gallows for fighting against British forces, the founders of RSS were planning to have Hindu Rashtra. This is the stark difference between the freedom fighters and the so-called nationalists,” he said.

Referring to M. S.. Golwalker, the Former Chief of RSS, Kumar said that Golwalkar openly advocated the supremacy of Hindus and called every non-Hindu as ‘others’. He wanted all non-Hindus to either live as sub servants of Hindus or leave the country.

Criticising the RSS leaders for still wanting to impose the ideology of Manu Smriti which believes in the hierarchy system of society, he said that the RSS never liked equality in the society.

“Today those who have reluctantly accepted the Constitution of India, are making every possible effort to push the Manu ideology again in the minds of people. The small section of the Brahmin community wants to rule over all the communities of the country by making them feel that they are inferior and only Brahmins are superior. Unfortunately, a large section of followers of 12th century social reformer Basavareshwara are becoming prey to this evil move. This is not only unfortunate and dangerous also for the social fabric and constitutional aspirations of India,” he said.

He said that these fanatics who never believed in social equality, have killed Mahatma Gandhi and writer, M. M. Kalburagi. They killed them only because people like Gandhi and Kalburagi were against the imposition of majoritarian system. They believed that people of all castes and communities have equal right to live in society. But since these fanatics did not want such an ideal society to prevail, they killed Gandhi and Kalburagi. The fight is still on between these fanatics and those who want society to live under the guidance of Basaveshwara.

Questioning the devotion of Sri Ram Sene activists for Lord Ram, he said that while Ram showed the light to the world and guided who an ideal human should be, the members of Sri Ram Sene are spoiling the very image of Lord Ram with the anti-social and anti-human activities.

“Today, Rama Sene dictates people what they should wear, what they should eat or who they should marry,” he remarked.

He also accused BJP and Sangha Parivars of portraying Swamy Vivekananda as Hindu icon when the reality is that Vivekananda believed in equality of the society and not hegemony of Hindus in India.

Taking exception over the BJP Government bringing anti-conversion law, Kumar said that such laws are being brought only to appease a section of people who believe in Manuvad. He said that the hegemony of these Manuvadi people can be controlled only when people get aware of their evil intentions.

On the occasion, he praised the works of MLA and BLDE Chairman M. B. Patil for establishing Halakatti Research Centre to hold research and publishing of books on Vachanas and M. M. Kalburagi.

MLA, M. B. Patil and Murughamatha Seer of Dharwad Mallikarjuna Swamy also spoke.
