Vijayapura: A farmer was seriously injured after being attacked by a wild elephant while he was on his way to his farm. He has been admitted to a hospital in the District.
The injured farmer has been identified as Devaraj (50), a resident of Nidanur Village in the taluk. Devaraju was on his way to a coffee plantation as usual when he was suddenly attacked by a wild elephant. He was taken to Alur Taluk Hospital with serious injuries. It is learnt that he has suffered a major injury on the face and could not speak.
The wild elephants, which have been camping in the Village for the last one month, are causing massive crop losses as well as have been attacking on human beings.
The public has expressed anger against the absence of Forest Officials at the spot.
