Vijayapura: “MLA Basanagouda Patil Yatnal has been claiming that he is a Hindu Huli (Hindu Tiger) and can win from any place he contests from. If that is true, then we challenge him today to contest from Babaleshwar Assembly constituency against Congress MLA M. B. Patil to prove his mettle and claim.”

This challenge is being posed to Yatnal by people associated with the BJP, mainly the Former Vijayapura City Municipal Council Members.

The BJP leaders who are against MLA Basanagaouda Patil Yatnal getting ticket from Vijayapura to contest polls again, have challenged him to contest against M. B. Patil, the Congress MLA from Babaleshwar Constituency to prove that he is really a state leader.

Addressing a joint media conference on Tuesday April 4, Raju Biradar, BJP’s Former nominated Municipal Council Member said that Yatnal has been claiming that he is so popular that even by showing his picture, he can secure at least 50,000 votes.

“He is also saying that people from all districts are wanting him to contest from their own assembly segment. If that is true, then let him contest from Babaleshwar which has been held by the Congress for decades. It will help the BJP win one more seat,” he said.

Earlier, another Former Municipal Member Ravi Bagali accused Yatnal of neglecting the party workers and acting like a dictator in the party.

He said that several party workers irrespective of their communities are unhappy with Yatnal as he has been working for himself and not for the party.

“We are making a fervent request to the BJP high command to offer ticket to Former MLA Appu Pattanshetty and not to Yatnal in the coming elections,” he said.

Claiming that over three hundred party workers are in touch with him, Bagali said that they have decided to remain neutral in the election by not voting for Yatnal if the party did not give ticket to Pattanshetty.

“Every party worker who is in touch with us has at least five votes in his hands. They will neither vote for any other party nor for Yatnal if the party again offers a ticket to him,” he said.

In another press conference held in the day, leaders of various communities also urged the BJP High Command to offer ticket to Pattanshetty.
