Vijayapura: With an objective of sharpening the reasoning capabilities and increasing the concentration, the Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer (ZP CEO) Rahul Shinde has directed the officials of the Education Department to encourage the students to play chess and keep chess board in the libraries of the Government Primary and High Schools of the District.

Shinde who vehemently believes that chess is one such game which helps in improving the concentration of the students, has asked the officials to arrange for the chess games among the students.

He feels that besides academic activities, the students should be encouraged to participate in sports and other extra-curricular activities which helps in comprehensive development of the students.

Stating that chess is one such simple and effective game in meeting this objective, he said that the children should be made to play chess in their free time.

In order to prepare the students for the exams and for any competitive exams, the chess games help the students in a significant manner, he said.

The chess boards should be kept in all the libraries of the District, he noted.

For rural areas, the Gram Panchayats should supply chess boards. The students should be segregated based on their classes and competition should be arranged among them.

The competitions should be organised from GP, TP and ZP and the GPs should give wider publicity about the event, he said and added that the winners should be given prizes
