Vijayapura: Accusing BJP MLA Basanagouda Patil Yatal of creasing communal divide by giving instigating and provocative statements, Karnataka Rakshana Vedike District President, M. C. Mulla has demanded the Government, the District Administration and District Police to file a suo motu case against Yatnal for trying to create disharmony in the society.

Addressing mediapersons on Thursday February 10, he said that it has become habit for Yatnal to give inflammatory statements by targeting Muslim community.

“Every now and then, he says something against the Muslims. He behaves irresponsibly without realising his position and stature in the society. He is an MLA, therefore, he should behave like a responsible elected representative,” he said.

He said that instead of talking about the development of the City, Yatnal devotes more time in giving inflammatory speeches before the media or on public platforms, Mulla said.

Doubting that he is behaving irresponsibly out of frustration as he has not been given any ministry, Mulla urged the Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai to give some Ministry to Yatnal to shut him up.

“I think he is angry and upset after being denied Ministry. I appeal to the CM to at least make him Minister, a portfolio-less Minister. I think that will calm Yatnal down and he will stop making baseless and rubbish statements,” he said.

On the objectionable statement of Yatnal against Siddaramaiah that the former speaks more for Muslims, thus he must have converted to Islam, Mulla criticised such remarks of Yatnal.

Talking in favour of any community does not mean that one person has converted to that community.

“Let me remind Yatnal that he was offering Namaz during Islamic festivals when he was in JD (S). He was standing next to me while offering prayers by wearing a skullcap. Did he convert to Islam then that he was offering Namaz,” he asked.

On the statement of Yatnal that the Modi Government has passed an act banning Triple talaq, else it would have helped Muslims to bear as many children as possible, Mulla wondered why parents of Yatnal did not adopt family planning. “I know that Yatnal has six siblings. If his parents had adopted family planning, he would not have been here,” he chided.

Referring to a decades old case of hoisting of the Pakistan flag in Vijayapura City, Mulla wondered why till date, Yatnal never sought any inquiry into the case.
It may be noted that many people had alleged that Yatnal was behind in getting the Pakistan flag hoisted in Vijayapura city.

Mulla said that Yatnal talks on thousand issues but never said a word about the Pakistan flag hoisting incident.

“I demand the government to order a CBI inquiry to find out the truth as to who was behind hoisting the Pakistan flag in Vijayapura city a decade ago,” he said.

He said that since Yatnal often takes the name of Pakistan, Mulla suspects that Yatnal might be working for Pakistan as a stooge in India.

With regard to the proposed decision to sell off the leased properties of the City, he demanded the Government to auction the properties to earn profit.

Mahadev Ravaji, Shivanand Duddagi, Fayaz Kaladagi and Dastagir Salotagi were present.
