Belagavi: In Channapura village, an attempted robbery at a garage and automobile shop was thwarted by vigilant villagers, who managed to apprehend one of the three thieves involved. The captured individual has been identified as Farooq Ismail Huilagola from Ananda Nagar, Old Hubli, Dharwad District. The other two suspects, Irfan Abdul Bodalekhan of Hale Hubli and Mahmadhussain Abdulsaab of Krishnapura Galli, managed to evade capture.
The incident unfolded when a local resident named Samiullah Abdulmunaf observed the attempted forced entry into Shiganalli’s shop. When the culprits failed to breach the shutter, they tried accessing the premises by climbing through a wooden ceiling. As the commotion drew people from their homes, two thieves fled upon realizing they had been spotted. However, an eyewitness reported that one thief attempting to escape via the ceiling injured his leg and was caught by locals.
Farooq Ismail Huilagola sustained a leg injury during his capture and has been hospitalized for treatment, while law enforcement authorities have launched efforts to locate and apprehend the absconding suspects. The Kittoor police station has registered the case for investigation.
