In yet another incident of moral policing in Belagavi, a youth was brutally attacked by six men for conversing with a girl belonging to another community. The incident occurred on Monday when Allauddin Peerjade was confronted and assaulted by a group of young men who objected to him speaking with the girl. Instead of informing the girl’s parents or involving the police, the assailants resorted to violence.

Peerjade, clad in torn clothes after the assault, rushed to the police station and lodged a complaint. Following swift action, police registered an FIR and arrested four of the six accused—identified as Santosh Jadhav, Sudesh Patil (both from Savgaon), and Sumit More, Jay Inchal (both from Angol). The search continues for the remaining two attackers.

A police officer confirmed that efforts are underway to apprehend the absconding duo soon.

Meanwhile, in a separate but related development, Savgaon residents submitted a memorandum to district officials, expressing alarm over increasing instances of unlawful activities in the village. Locals alleged that youngsters from neighboring areas gather in Savgaon, disturbing peace by consuming alcohol, smoking, and using banned substances such as ganja. Farmers and residents claim these activities are damaging the village’s image and have urged authorities to act decisively to curb the problem.
