Bengaluru: Bengaluru Police have busted a major cocaine distribution racket operating barely 100 metres from the Chamarajpet Police Station, arresting one alleged drug peddler and seizing 116.3 grams of cocaine valued at around ₹50 lakh.
The raid, carried out on Monday, exposed a drug network that allegedly supplied cocaine across the city using innovative methods to avoid detection.
Cocaine hidden inside chocolate boxes
Police identified the arrested accused as a 30-year-old man who allegedly operated the racket from a rented house in Chamarajpet.
According to investigators, the accused used bike-based logistics delivery services to transport cocaine to customers across Bengaluru. To evade suspicion, the narcotics were allegedly concealed inside chocolate boxes before being dispatched.
Officials said the accused had been under surveillance for some time before the operation was carried out.
Police hunt for second suspect
A second suspect linked to the racket remains absconding, and police have launched a search to trace and arrest him.
Investigators are now probing the source of the seized cocaine, the distribution network, financial transactions and the identities of customers who allegedly purchased the narcotics.
Police are also examining whether the drug syndicate has interstate or international connections, as part of a wider investigation into the supply chain.
The seizure forms part of Bengaluru Police’s ongoing crackdown on narcotics trafficking and organised drug networks operating in the city.
Officials said further arrests are likely as the investigation progresses and more details emerge about the network’s operations.
