Bengaluru: It’s been just nine months since Congress made its big win to create the Siddaramaiah government in Karnataka, and we are already seeing more than 90 members enjoying the cabinet rank, the highest ever since the Karnataka government came into being.

Included in these are 77 MLAs and nine non-legislators, with ministers, multiple advisors to the chief minister, chairpersons of boards and corporations and some chief whips of the government party. Of the advisors to CM there are nine who enjoy their new position in the cabinet without being a member of either of the houses.

Some interesting names that we can include in the list here are Sunil Kanugolu, who played a key role in the Congress victory last year, former IAS officer DH Ravikumar, BS Patil, who is remembered as the expert behind Brand Bengaluru, and finally, Dr, Aarthi Krishna, who serves as the vice president of the NRI cell.

Members who now enjoy prestigious positions in the cabinet, with a raise in salary, along with benefits that include a car and a police escort. What’s more, the members can also hire staff of their own, with a maximum of 14 members.
