BENGALURU: The Ulsoor Gate police have booked a 23-year-old man for assaulting an advocate inside a City Civil Court hall on Tuesday. The accused has been identified as Darshan, a resident of Sampigehalli.
Attack occurred before magistrate
According to the police, advocate Karthik K from Basavanagudi stated in his complaint that around 11 am he was seated with four other advocates in the court hall, waiting for a case hearing, when an unidentified person suddenly approached and hit him on the face.
The incident occurred in full view of the magistrate, after which court staff and those present immediately restrained the attacker and handed him over to Ulsoor Gate police.
Accused had come for his own case
A senior police officer said Darshan had been involved in a petty case earlier and had been under observation at a rehabilitation centre. He had arrived at the court to attend proceedings related to his case when he suddenly attacked the advocate without provocation.
Victim says he has no connection with accused
Speaking to DH, advocate Karthik said he had never seen the man before and had no professional connection to him.
“I was shocked about the incident. I immediately went to a nearby hospital for treatment and later filed a case with the police,” he said.
