Bengaluru: Covid-19 has now hit the popular air show and aviation exhibition, Aero India 2021, which is scheduled to be held in the city between February 3, 2021 and February 7, 2021. Compared to the previous edition (Aero India 2019), the number of foreign companies participating in the show has come down by half. However, many more domestic companies have registered to participate in the event.

According to the data, in 2019, 165 foreign companies had participated in the biennial air show, but this year, the number has come down to 67.

With several curbs being placed on international travel due to the Covid-19 pandemic, many companies didn’t show interest in participating in the 2021 edition.

The number of total exhibitors, however, has increased from 403 to 509 with the number of participating Indian companies jumping from 238 to 442.

According to sources, 94% of the booking area has been reserved so far. Another 6% is still vacant and as the day of the event approaches, this is expected to be filled.
