Bengaluru: The All India Democratic Students Organisation (AIDSO) has expressed its support for the ongoing protest by government first-year college guest lecturers.

At least five colleges in Bengaluru Central’s AIDSO units have offered support to the protesting guest lecturers.

On Tuesday January 4, students from RC College, Maharani Arts Commerce and Management University, Nrupatunga University, and Government Home Science College will join guest faculty in a protest rally in the City.

“We are supporting the genuine demands of the guest lecturers and showing our solidarity. On Tuesday, we will hold a protest at Freedom Park, ” the AIDSO said in a statement to the media.

For the past 20 days, guest lecturers have been boycotting classes in protest of the government’s inability to meet their demands. They want job security and an honorarium hike. Academic activities at the majority of government degree colleges have come to a halt as a result of the protest, as most universities rely on guest faculty.
