A public bus burst into flames on a busy road in Bengaluru this morning just as the driver started the engine. The quick-thinking driver acted swiftly, ensuring all 30 passengers were safely evacuated before the fire spread, according to sources from the Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC).

The incident involved a bus from the Koramangala depot and occurred on MG Road. Eyewitnesses captured videos showing the bus engulfed in flames, with thick plumes of smoke rising as firefighters worked to extinguish the blaze. BMTC sources indicated that the fire likely started due to an overheated engine when the driver turned on the ignition.

Thankfully, no injuries were reported, thanks to the driver’s prompt actions. The driver evacuated all passengers and immediately alerted firefighters. Senior BMTC officials have since arrived at the scene to investigate the cause of the fire. A thorough examination is underway, and appropriate action will be taken once the investigation report is completed, BMTC sources added.
