Bengaluru: The Kumaraswamy Layout police have arrested one person for siphoning cash meant for loading automated teller machines (ATMs) of ICICI Bank and HDFC Bank.
The police have identified the arrested person as S. Shivakumar, 30, a resident of Naidu Layout, Rajiv Gandhi Road, JP Nagar, Bengaluru. The police have recovered Rs 91 lakh from him.
According to the police, Shivakumar had been working as a custodian with Writers Safeguard Pvt Limited from March 2013 to October 2017. Ankith Singh of Writers Safeguard Pvt Limited lodged a complaint with Kumaraswamy Layout police alleging that Shivakumar cheated the company of Rs 42,91,000 by drawing money from ICICI Bank and HDFC Bank ATMs.
The police said the accused has confessed to the crime during the interrogation. The accused has confessed of stealing Rs. 1,05,00,000 from the ATMs and given it to his friends.
The police have recovered Rs 91,00,000 from him and are looking into the lapses in loading cash into the ATMs. It is believed the accused used to load the ATMs with half of the cash.
A case has been registered against the accused at Kumaraswamy Layout police station under the Sections of 424, 177, 201, 120(B), 408, 420, 35 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code.
