Bengaluru: Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah expressed deep concern on Wednesday over the shocking attack on the Parliament building, condemning the act of violence and emphasizing the importance of a thorough investigation.

While it is a relief that all the members of the Parliament are safe, it is evident that this incident occurred due to a security lapse despite the high security in place, Siddaramaiah stated. He called upon the Central government, particularly the Home Minister, to conduct a comprehensive investigation and disclose all relevant details to the public.

Highlighting the coincidental timing of the attack on the 22nd anniversary of the 2001 terrorist attack on the Parliament (December 13, 2001), Siddaramaiah expressed suspicions about potential underlying motives. Even during the 2001 attack, there was an NDA government led by the BJP in power, raising questions about the country’s security, he remarked.

Addressing media reports suggesting that the attackers were given passes by BJP MP Pratap Simha, Siddaramaiah pointed out the potential implications if these reports were accurate. If these reports are true, then it implies that these youths might have been known to the MP. If they were not acquaintances, then how were passes issued to strangers? It should be noted that even inadvertent acts of negligence are also punishable under the law, he asserted.

Siddaramaiah questioned the apparent breach in security at the heart of the nation, the Parliament building, emphasizing its stringent security measures. He raised concerns about how the attackers managed to enter with smoke canisters and posed queries about potential insider involvement or external forces behind the incident.

Ultimately, the Chief Minister held Prime Minister Narendra Modi responsible for addressing these pressing questions and ensuring the nation’s security, both within its borders and at vital institutions like the Parliament.
