Bengaluru: The Mahalakshmi Layout police have named N.R. Santosh, personal assistant of State BJP president B.S. Yeddyurappa, as the prime accused in the attempted kidnap of Vinay, personal assistant of senior BJP leader K.S. Eshwarappa. The alleged incident took place in May this year. To date, 12 people, including Santosh who is out on bail, have been arrested.

The police confirmed that the charge sheet was filed in court. Assistant Commissioner of Police of Malleswaram Sub Division Anand Badiger, who headed the investigation, filed the charge sheet. The police had questioned Santosh, BJP Yuva Morcha Bengaluru unit general secretary Rajendra Urs and several others in the case.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Chethan Singh Rathore said that they are yet to analyse Santosh’s call record details, as he is yet to hand over his mobile phone. “We will file a supplementary charge sheet after analysing his mobile phone records,” said the police.
