Bengaluru: A contractor associated with Bengaluru Milk Union Ltd (Bamul) has been booked for allegedly stealing dairy products worth ₹4,460 from the union’s dispatch dock in Adugodi.

The accused, Raghu D S (34), is a contractor and owner-driver of distribution vehicles and has reportedly been associated with Bamul for nearly a decade.

Alleged theft detected during routine inspection

According to a complaint filed by Suresh M, Chief Security Officer of Bamul, the incident came to light during a routine verification at the dispatch dock on Platform C near Dairy Circle at around 7.53 pm on June 26.

Officials reportedly found a shortage of 10 packets of 200-gram paneer and 10 packets of 500-gram ghee, which had been kept ready for dispatch.

Following the discrepancy, officials reviewed CCTV footage from the premises.

CCTV footage leads to police complaint

According to the complaint, CCTV footage allegedly showed Raghu taking the dairy products without authorisation. The total value of the missing items has been estimated at ₹4,460.

Based on the complaint, Adugodi Police have registered a case under Section 303 (theft) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Police probe if similar incidents occurred earlier

Police said the investigation is ongoing and officers are examining whether similar thefts may have taken place in the past.

A senior police official said investigators are verifying records and available evidence to determine if there were any previous instances of missing dairy products linked to the accused.

The allegations are currently under investigation, and the accused’s role will be determined through the legal process.
