Bangalore Literature Festival Returns: A Weekend of Stories and Ideas

This weekend, the 13th Bangalore Literature Festival is set to captivate audiences at The Lalit Ashok on Kumarakrupa Road. The two-day celebration will feature author meet-ups and panel conversations, spotlighting 350 speakers from around the world.

Renowned names like short story author Aneeta Sundararaj, historian William Dalrymple, activist Aruna Roy, and scientist Anil Ananthaswamy are among the highlights. The festival will begin on Saturday with a Carnatic vocal performance by Sumitra Nitin.

Day one will host engaging panels such as The Ooru Files: Crime in the City, Love in all Colours, and The Lion and the Lily: The Rise and Fall of Awadh. Sunday’s agenda dives into themes like social transformation, Indian consumer trends, and heritage textiles.

A special session, Frames of a Life, features filmmaker Girish Kasaravalli in conversation with singer M D Pallavi about his book Bimba Bimbana. Educator K Chinnappa Gowda will share insights on Tulu oral epics and indigenous traditions.

New book launches, including Roopa Pai’s Becoming Bangalore and Stanly Johny’s Original Sin: Israel, Palestine and the Revenge of Old West Asia, will be spotlighted. International queer artists and storytellers from India, France, and Germany will also take part.
