Bengaluru: The health officials of Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) have conducted raids on sweet stalls and found some of them preparing sweets in unhygienic conditions.
The BBMP officials ordered the closure of two sweet stalls and penalized seven sweet stalls in the city. The BBMP officials have collected Rs 1.30 lakh as penalty from these sweet stalls for not maintaining hygiene while preparing the sweets.
According to reliable sources, the BBMP health officials have conducted raids on Shakthi Sweets on Magadi Main Road, Sangam Sweets at Gandhinagar, Ganesh Sweets at Dayanandanagar in Rajajinagar, Asha Sweets at 8th and 10th Cross, Malleswaram, Santosh Sweets at Malleshwaram.
During the raids, the BBMP health officials found sweets were being prepared near a toilet at Ganesh Sweets. The BBMP officials imposed Rs 10,000 penalty on the proprietor of Ganesh Sweets for not maintaining hygiene. The BBMP health officials found Sangam Sweets using milk kova with past expiry date. The BBMP officials have imposed a penalty of Rs 1 lakh on the proprietor of Sangam Sweets.
The health officials under the guidance of Dr Lokesh, chief medical officer, BBMP, conducted raids on seven sweet stalls.
