Bengaluru: The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has set up wet waste composting machines at its Kasa-Rasa unit in Koramangala. The system, which can handle 500 kg of garbage every day, takes 15 to 18 days to transform the waste into manure. If the trial run is a success, the local body aims to introduce more of these machines.
The machine was inspected by BBMP Chief Commissioner Gaurav Gupta and a team of officials on Wednesday April 27. Regenate Pvt. Ltd. installed the machine as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme.
“More decentralised processing units will minimise the waste management problem,” he said, urging for the use of wet waste composting machines.
