Bengaluru: The BBMP that came under severe criticism for the unscientific design of drains and incomplete network that led to flooding in various parts of the city in the aftermath of incessant rains recently, has decided to use the services of the drones to monitor and ensure transparency in the storm drainage development works.
As per the decision taken by Mayor Sampath Raj, henceforth all the works of storm water drainage will be recorded via drones to ensure that there are no lapses.
As per the plan, pictures and videos captured via drones will be made compulsory prior to release of bill amounts to contractors to ensure the work quality, stated officers in the BBMP engineering section.
“As per the direction issued by the Mayor, we will ensure that work visuals will be captured via drones. One of the major advantages is that we can monitor the works round the clock and in the event of any lapses the video footages will work as evidence,” said an officer.
“To ensure that general public too can provide feedback on the status of work, work design etc, it has been decided that all the pictures and videos captured via drone will be uploaded on the BBMP website. A separate link will be provided for public feedback,” he concluded.
